Daily Mass Reading for November 2nd 2017
02 November, 2017. (Thursday) All Souls
Day. Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed
1st Reading: Isaiah 25:6-9
A vision of hope for the future, when
God will restore his people to happiness
On this mountain the Lord
of hosts
will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged
wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. And
he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the
sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will
wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take
away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day,
‘Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is
the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.’
Gospel: Matthew 11:25-30
Jesus tells us of the Father’s gracious
presence
At that time Jesus said,
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these
things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants;
yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over
to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one
knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal
him.
“Come to me, all you that
are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
